Animal Crossing news from E3

Posted by admin on June 17th, 2015

E3 is the biggest event on the gaming calendar – an expo where all the industry’s biggest names showcase their upcoming hardware and games. In the lead up to this year’s event, there was lots of speculation among Animal Crossing fans as to whether or not Nintendo would unveil a new AC title. Well, now we know…

Let’s cut to the chase: there is, unfortunately, still no news on an Animal Crossing game for the Wii U (Booooo! Hiss! etc). However, Big N did unveil two new AC-related videos. The first, for Happy Home Designer, shows us a little more about the upcoming game. We had our reservations when it was first announced but, admittedly, it’s beginning to look pretty  good! The second video is for a brand new title, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. Don’t get too excited though – it’s not an Animal Crossing game in the true sense – think Mario Party but set in the AC universe, and with heavy Amiibo utilisation.

So, what do we think? HHD is certainly showing promise and, with a launch date just 3.5 months away, we’re actually kind of excited. Amiibo Festival could go either way. The board game style worked well for Mario Party and it’s abundance of hectic multiplayer minigames but, from what we can see, this doesn’t yet feature any of that – it is just a basic board game. So far, so underwhelming. But hey, maybe we’re wrong – check out the videos and tell us what you think. (Also, bonus points to anyone who spots the bad English in the video)
